Lately I've been trying to really drill down and define my style, and while I'm not shabby chic by any stretch I've noticed how much I love vintage metal and glass, especially used in functional designs. There's something about a silver or chrome finish that's slightly dented that adds such a humbleness to the object – and to a whole room.

I think another way the prairies are just part of me- I can't stop myself from loving design that's useful and looks like it's spent its life sitting in a sunbeam, watching the children across the back lane grow up.

When I browse through a thrift store I can't stop myself from spinning stories about how much fun it would be to have a perfect little a sliver tray to toss my mail into, or how if my cupboards were full of giant glass jars filled with brown sugar and flour, that I'd enjoy cooking and baking just that little bit more. I bet that happiness would come through in the taste of everything I made.

Which is to say, this should really be filed under the “investments” part of our household budget, not the “Back Away From Etsy Now” section, when you think about it ;)
