I've always loved when bloggers spill the what they keep in their bags, it's such a personal peek into their lives! I thought it would be exciting to share mine, and I wanted to put together a really photoshoot where I didn't edit the photos, but made everything seem to float with tiny pins, a little tape, and a few prayers!
Here's what's with me every day…
1. Pre-Filled Customs Declarations – (I hope I just made anyone with an online shop smile) I'm shipping out etsy orders 2-3 times a week now, and I always like have these on me, just in case something goes wrong at the post office.
2. My New Teal Headphones – I love the retro style, and how vibrant they are! Also? I have nail polish that matches them exactly. Win!
3. My Day Planner – I really don't like having to remember where I'm supposed to be and when, so I have a day planner that keeps track of everything (you can find it here). I'm working on designing my own custom planner that will coordinate all my life & business worlds, and I'll be blogging the process soon. Until then, this is where my daily life lives.
4. My “Oh Yea!” Book – This is where all of my notes and ideas live when they're still in their planning stages. If I have an idea for a blog post while I'm on the road, a new recipe to try out, or a design epiphany it goes in here. It's a design from my etsy shop that I needed to keep!
5. A Cue Card with Reality TV Suggestions from Leigh-Ann – According to LA, if you choose to you can actually enjoy reality TV without having to know anything about any of the Kardashians! Her suggestions were: Pawn Stars & Storage Wars. I'm loving both, and am totally getting hooked on reality TV. Please send help.
6. My Inspiration Book – This is where I do all of my dreaming for my blog, design, and life. I make notes on what I'm learning from my mentors, what my ideal life would look like, and break it down into steps so getting there becomes a goal.
7. Extra Paper Clips – From my recently shipped esty orders! I use them to keep the customs forms clipped to the packages.
8. My Keys + Moustache Keychain – Made by my lovely friend Hillary, it reminds me of her whenever I see it :)
9. A Cover Girl compact – My go to for shine control when I'm out and about, in the lightest colour they sell.
10. My wallet – I love the shade of marigold + mustard, and it has exactly the right number of pockets.
11. My pill box – I'm lactose intolerant, so I take pills every day to make sure I can still sneak in dairy. They're lifesavers.
12. Mac Lipstick in Myth – This one's so cute, but it's a little too frosty for me on it's own. I use it sparingly & with lip gloss.
13. Mac Lipstick in Blankety – I'm addicted to nude lipsticks & this is my perfect shade!
14. C.O. Bigelow Lipgloss – I love the minty taste of these! I love this and my cinnamon one.
15. L'Oreal Colour Juice in Strawberry Smoothie – It's true, I'm a lip gloss addict. This is just another on in my line up!
16. Whitening Gum – A must for a coffee lover like me, this takes a little of my espresso guilt away.
17. A Knitting Needle Tip – Pairs of these are really handy for keeping my knitting work on my needles when I'm taking it with me. This is one that needs to be taken out of my bag and reunited with it's mate!
18. Extra O-Rings – My ears are stretched, and while I tried to let them grow in for three years it never happened. Rather than fight with them I'm stretching them back to my old gauge, and these O-Rings sit behind my jewelry. Only sometimes they fall off! I always keep an extra pair tucked in my bag, just in case I put on one hat or sweater too many.

Ooh, I love this post! (A whole month later, but still…) :-P I’d do something similar, but 80% of what I dump out of my purse would be crumpled up receipts and candy wrappers.

Why do we all love these posts so much? Maybe bloggers are some of the nosiest people – I know I am. :) I am really excited to see this day planner you are working on. I took advice from Amy and ordered the Erin Condren Life Planner. Now I am anxiously awaiting it’s arrival.

Your purse seems so tidy and colorful! There is always a jumble of receipts at the bottom of mine–I tend to justify that by thinking I might need to exchange something.

i love all your notebooks that you have. i’ve always been one to carry around a notebook too, but this year i broke out of my habit of buying only spiral bound notebooks. i have a problem with perfection…and i always used to just tear out the pages that didn’t “look perfect” to me. this year im embracing my imperfection and got a lovely purple journal to write my thoughts in. i think this is a step forward for me. :P

It really does tell you the little details about a person to see inside their bag! I’ve never really thought about it before even though I’ve seen these posts in the past… it makes me wonder… what the heck is in my bag?? I think I have about 159032 reciepts from the post office from shipping packages like crazy over the Christmas season! Anyone want to see a purse filled with reciepts? Anyone…. anyone?

Also? Those headphones are AMAZING. What brand are they? They look similar to a pair Glenn recently got in a yellow color that I have been lusting over in a dusty pink shade.
Oh, and the fact that you carry around your lactaid in a cute pill box is BRILLIANT. I’m lame & just throw the packet of pills in my purse and look like a crazy pill popper when out in public trying to eat dairy. A pill box is way classier so now I’m on the hunt for a cute one too! Thanks <3
The headphones are from Urbanears, and they’re awesome. They also work on cellphones, and have a small mic with a one button answer and call ending feature. So handy!

Storage Wars is my favorite! I now want to find some storage lockers and bid on them. Hah. I love the pill box! I’m lactose intolerant too, but I just throw the packages in to my bag. Perhaps I should invest in a pill box because my pills end up being crushed.

Eeee, I just bought a nail polish the exact color of those headphones; in fact, I just painted my nails that color last night, so pretty! Bigelow Lipgloss!!! i used to be obsessed with the orange cream version they had, but I haven’t seen it in years. Maybe I can find online?

Great post Kyla! I really like your two notebook idea. The notebook I have in my purse sort of encompasses it all and I find I get a little lost when I dive into it. Maybe separating the now from the future would make it a little easier to tackle.
I always feel like I carry such boring stuff. My purse is pretty empty right now and I’m in desperate need of a new bag.
Anyway, I looooooove Pawn Stars and Storage Wars! I’m also a huge fan of Hollywood Treasures (I think that’s what it’s called) where an auction company finds Hollywood memorabilia to put up at auction. They always find some super neat items. :)

Love this post! It never ceases to amaze me how what’s in a purse can reflect a personality so well! Also, I need to know where you got your bag, wallet, and pillbox – STAT. (I promise not to copy all of them, just one or two!)
Ha! My bag is from etsy and it’s this style, my wallet was from Target last year, and my pillbox was from a little town in Winthrope washington we stopped in on our road trip. I tend to get a new one whenever I’m on a trip, but I find that shabby chic jewelry shops tend to stock pretty ones that are also sturdy :)

Great post! Yout fit alot in my purse! I downsized my purse this fall and kind of miss being able to haul around more stuff… I can’t go w/out my wallet, Burt’s Beeswax chapstick, a Paris notebook to jot down ideas and recipes and blog post ideas and shopping lists, and my Nook. :)

How do you keep all your stuff organized inside your bag? Certain pockets? Or do you just throw it all in?
The bad has three big pockets- one on the outside and two on the inside. I tuck my smaller items into them, and leave the big ones to fend for themselves :)
