Current Inspiration

Valentines Day – I'm not a big holiday person and I have a low tolerance level for saccharine gestures but something about Valentines Day gets me. My version of a perfect Valentines Day is cooking dinner together, drinking a bunch of Pinot Noir, slow dancing in the living room, and watching Rushmore. (I love Max Fischer and you can't stop me)

The Arts I haven't been to a real theatre or symphony show since July. I'm still not used to my decreased arts rations now that I don't work in theatre, and I'm going to be pawing through show information to try and get my fix this month. It's either that or ask my technical friends to let me watch a show from up in the lighting grid for old times sake.

Photography – While it's still too cold to be comfortable outside, I'm loving getting to know my camera better inside, working with my flash and becoming a better editor. I'm especially excited because I just confirmed that I'm working three weddings this summer! *throws a party* Want to see the weddings I was a second shooter on last year? Check them out here– just be nice, I'm an amateur! Fun fact: one of the brides reminded me of Nilsa so much it's eerie.

Travel – Mister and I have been talking a lot about travel this month, he's going to be traveling with work after Valentines day so I'm seeing flight numbers, delays, and checked baggage in my sleep. I hate when he's away, but having the house to myself is fun too. I bet the puppies would love sleeping on his side of the bed…

This February I Will

Be vegan – January was my transitional month, and now (armed with vitamins and recipes) I'm going to try being vegan for a month. I've become less of a vegetarian in the past months and more of a carb-etarian so I'm looking forward to a month of being forced to actively think about my food. And also? I'm lactose intolerant, and a month where I don't have to take pills with every meal sounds brilliant.

Keep my head on my shoulders – This is the month where school could tear me apart. I'm through the initial hurdles and March is where it lets up. If i keep my head down and textbooks open, this month will fly by.

Speak to a realtor about selling the little house – This needs a whole post but for now, suffice it to say that a joke about selling our house to a friend went from a joke to an (informal) offer this week, and it has given us a ton to think about. Coming in at under 800 sq. ft. we live in the perfect little mega-sustainable, central home- but because it's so small and is never going to be a family home (unless a family of hobbits is interested) we have to be careful about the projects we take on. With the work we've done already we have to just keep it as it is or we'll never recoup our expenses. We're at the point where we have to actively stop making it a home, and for us that doesn't work. I made the call yesterday and we're meeting with a realtor on Saturday. Hold me?
