Ever since I planted my tiny succulent garden I’ve been thinking about other ways to add low maintenance plants to my house, and I’ve been finding more and more daydreamy images of incredible terrariums. The whole idea of setting up a miniature self contained world to take care of and experiment with is so endearing and Victorian that I can’t help but love it. The Victorians used an early terrarium style called Wardian Cases, which sounds so proper and starched that it makes them even more perfect, don’t you think? As much as I like the heavy glass domes that look so stately and traditional, the new style of terrariums that’s light, minimalist and airy is decidedly my favourite.

In my mind, I’m not a fashionable girl. I love putting together good outfits and I’ve even tried fashion blogging if only to push myself into being more comfortable with it, but in my mind that doesn’t cut it. When it comes to fashion, I look at the outfit posts I see on blogs and how the bloggers always look like they’ve just drifted into frame between a perfect walk in the park and a perfect evening out and a voice in my head says:
“You are not a fashionable girl, for fashionable girls it’s effortless”

I don’t have cravings very often, but every now and then one hits me hard. It got me thinking about how I have comfort food of all different kinds- especially when it comes to the first blogs I read.

I adore planning my blog, so I usually come to each post with an idea of what I’m going to write about- but every now and then I find something and just have to share it the moment I find it! Tonight I was browsing Etsy and came across Erin Tyner Photography and couldn’t stop exploring- this is one of those must share moments.

These are prints from a series called “Half Awake” and they’re created in an amazing way!

This weekend when I was wishing it was spring I planned a perfect protest. If it was too frigid to wear a skirt, I was going to make spring happen another way! A while ago I spotted the most amazing headbands by a new blog friend, Savannah aka MaieDae who has a beautiful etsy shop, and I snapped one up as soon as I could.
Fact:
Not only are giant fascinator headbands fun when when you have short hair, they are a lifesaver when you have short hair that you’re just contemplating growing out enough for it to always look awkward.

Last year I found out about an amazing course called Indie Business- I was dreaming of starting an etsy shop and getting more into designing, and it was like this course had been designed just for me! I couldn’t wait to sign up. The course experience was amazing, the sessions were so detailled and every day there was something new to learn, work through in the workbook or dream about.
Now a year later, it’s Indie time again!!

I started seriously planning to quit my day job in the spring of 2010. At twenty four I knew a lot about what I didn’t want to do, and a little about what I did want to do- I wanted a job where I could be creative, use my design and interpersonal skills, get into exciting debates and conversations and where my my blog would be welcomed as an asset instead of misunderstood as a secret-emo-diary-rant space. I wanted to work on handmade projects and digital projects, to have the opportunity to use the photography and marketing sides of my brain.

I’ve always loved when bloggers spill the what they keep in their bags, it’s such a personal peek into their lives! I thought it would be exciting to share mine, and I wanted to put together a really photoshoot where I didn’t edit the photos, but made everything seem to float with tiny pins, a little tape, and a few prayers!
Here’s what’s with me every day…

1. Pre-Filled Customs Declarations – (I hope I just made anyone with an online shop smile) I’m shipping out etsy orders 2-3 times a week now, and I always like have these on me, just in case something goes wrong at the post office.
