Jesse’s travelling with work again this week, and I’ve been trying to make the time fly by as quickly as possible! I thought it would be fun to would give you a peek into what my solo week has been like…
I had fun outside! The prairies got so warm that it was beautiful to be out and about- finally!
I worked on big projects for Freckled Nest, and was so excited to be announced as a guest teacher for Indie Business 3.0!!
I ate pizza every night! I’m addicted to super yummy spinach pizzas that we have in the house. So good!
I had a Friday Finds post all lined up and ready to go, but instead I wanted to take a little time out to just express what’s been in my heart this week. I’ve been receiving the sweetest notes on my blog posts lately, and because I’m still in “getting my feet on the ground” mode with my new full time Freckled Nest job I’ve been having trouble getting back to everyone as quickly as I usually do.
Looking back at my one goal for 2010: slow down, I have to laugh a little. While I had good intentions, 2010 started slow and quickly sped up to a sprint. If 2010 was just one word, it would be stretch.
Seasonal Tastes – Gingerbread lattes and sugar cookies for dessert, cinnamon coffee and belgian waffles on the weekend, and candy canes when no one’s looking! I love how the smallest corner of those foods that are all about the holidays can launch me into a really beautiful mood.
Staying Cozy - As soon as the snow flies, coming home and getting out of the cold feels like winning the lottery! Lately I’ve been getting up early and waking up slowly by sipping my coffee and knitting while listening to podcasts. It’s an easier start to my mornings, and I’m in love with my new routine.
That’s right, I’m becoming a full time designer + blogger in January!Leigh-Ann and I are so excited for our new adventure together, and to get to work in our gorgeous new studio!
Dates To Look Forward To:
Dec 1 – Leigh-Ann’s new blog design launch
Dec 13 – My guest spot on LA-TV, Leigh-Ann’s live streaming craft show
Dec 13 – The launch of the Freckled Nest Design, our web design HQ
January - LA and I starting our monthly video challenges
In the past few months I’ve been dealing with some tough personal stuff that’s been a big journey for me, and I really want to share it with you. I’m still very much working through everything, but I’m excited to be stepping in a positive direction. It’s a scroller and more serious than I usually am, so you’ve been warned!
I’m not a big scary movie person- they’re all blood, gore and (worst of all!) people jumping out from behind things. Three things that I can definitely do without, I hate being scared! That being said, I’m a huge movie fan and I have a soft spot for mysteries, well told stories, and thrillers. And cult movies. And campy horror and sci-fi! Be still my geeky heart.
One of my favourite Halloween traditions is to have a movie marathon on Halloween night, these are the ones that are topping my list this year…
My favourite kinds right now are Pinot Noirs & Beaujolais, mostly from 2007. They’re affordable and smooth. :)
What do you think you miss most about not living in a big city? from Bridget
I don’t think I miss anything! :) Winnipeg is about as much of any city that I would use, and while we might not get all the good concerts of have as many bars to choose from, I love it here. There is such an amazing arts community, and it’s such a welcoming place that’s incredibly affordable to live. I bought a house at 23! In most places that’s unheard of. I wouldn’t live here if I felt at a disadvantage.
I'm Kyla- a twenty something web designer & full time creative business owner, friendly introvert, thrifting addict & vegetarian foodie. I live in a tiny house with my husband Jesse and very small (very bad!) dogs, and am passionate about handmade, living simply, organization and making my time stretch so I can fill it with all the projects I have whirling around my mind.
This is my personal blog where I share stories from my life, lessons I'm learning through living with GAD, being self employed, results from my kitchen, and inspiration that makes me swoon.
Thanks for exploring my corner of the internet. If you would like to feature something I've posted about, or one of my images please feel free to- just link back to my original post.
