Thank you all so much for your patience, between my blog going down this weekend and the scope of this project I wasn’t sure it would ever be finished in time- but it is!! And I’m SO excited to share what Moorea & I have been working on!

Four Little Pots is an invitation to get passionate about food, and to get your hands dirty in the process! It’s a challenge- you grow dill, basil, lavender and mint this summer (in the complete package everything is provided, you just need four little pots) and the ebook will guide you through with stories about how I got into “slow food”, information on how to take care of your little plants, and recipes for when it’s time to eat! To be exact:

Last week I posted about the obscenely cheap fabric wall panels that I made, and because having a “how to” post inside of a “my dogs mauled each other” post is at least a little awkward I thought I’d show you how I did it here….
Fabric Wall Panel Supplies
- 1.5 meters of cute discount fabric ($10)
- 1 panel of half inch green guard or similar panel insulation from hardware store ($10)
- 1/4″ staples

I spent most of last week covered in paint, with drop cloths and drill bits at my feet. I would sip coffee with Mister in the morning, and as soon as he left I would get down to business. Here is what I was working with:

(usually we have all the doors on…)

Let’s Review:

- Huge 1940′s built in cabinets.
- Tiny “galley” style space with lots of storage but that looks… really cramped.
- Basic, ugly, melamine bottom cabinets that do not match the top cabinets what so ever.
The best thing about Ikea is that it’s easy. It’s all blonde and European (see: exotic but non-threatening) and comes with adorable tiny wrenches and allen keys. Everyone wins. So when the dogs ate our magazines, ripped the spines off our book, and then finally tore pages out of my hand made recipe book? I knew what we had to do. Get doors for our bookcases to end the destruction.
Which meant we had to have Mister’s parents hit Ikea when they were in Minneapolis last weekend. The result after some confusion on the phone, wrong product codes given for reference, and trying to straighten the whole things out while the dogs flew around the house at lightening speed while barking is, sadly, best summarized as follows: FAIL.

I love antique stores. In the past month I have bought:
- A perfectly shaped dish for resting my baby oil bottle in, so I can be moisturized without ruining our bathroom cabinet. ($3)
- A giant dusty pink 1950′s jewlery box ($4)
- A solid wood credenza/side board/buffet that perfectly fits the piano window in our living room ($150)
This weekend was spent rifling through the back rooms of these stores, wiping off dust, inspecting scratches and wear, hoisting it into the car, out to the car, finding old books and spoons inside our new piece of furniture when we got it home, and polishing it up so that it’s new again.

This week I’ve been under the weather, and while I can be single minded at best some times I really locked in on making myself comfy but productive – because I had a problem that needed fixing. I lose my bus pass. Frequently. There’s something about my jacket pockets that make them literally expel my bus pass into the street, my workplace, the bus on a regular basis. My solution is that I’m constantly clutching my bus pass in my huge gloved hands, concentrating on making sure that I have it – and when I’m not I’m patting myself down trying to find my buss pass. As the bus service can be in this city, I hate losing $75.00 – so if I go looking for my pass and I can’t find it right away, I kinda wig out

I’ve mentioned it before, but a few years ago my skin crawled when I went into a vintage store. The smell, sheer quantity of clothing…everything about it gave me the creeps. I was 19, had just moved into my first apartment and had somehow landed an $18/hour government job while I was in school.
I bought clothes at the mall & ate lots of sushi.
