Blogroll

My blogroll is the most visited page on my blog but I’ve always been dissatisfied with it. What does a list of links really tell you, anyway? These little bios are completely inadequate, but I love all the people on this list for funny little reasons that are particular to my heart and I wanted to spell it all out.

The  symbol indicates a blogger who I’ve met, and whose awesomeness I can personally attest to.

Their Style

Cupcakes and Cashmere
Emily’s style is effortless and LA chic, take a peek into her Crème fraiche and caviar world- and get some know how yourself with her helpful How To’s.

Demoiselles
Savvy, sharp tongued, and equal parts beauty critics and fashionistas, The Demoiselle’s want to talk to you about how you feel about you. And they want to challenge you. Thank God for them.

Face Hunter & Hel Looks
Sometimes the world of fashion blogs is terrifying. Worse than the mall even. But these European street style blogs show normal people – big, little, awkward, beautiful – having fun with fashion. Must clicks.

for me, for you
Kate is astonishing. A jewellery designer & artist, she’s intimidatingly talented and accessible. Her weekend wrap up posts are beautiful.

Freckled Nest
Local girl and my personal crafty inspiration, Leigh-Ann is full of vintage finds, DIY ideas and inspiration for you to lap up.

oh, hello friend.
A self described inspiration blog, Danni is so inspiring herself that she’s hard to keep up with. And she has an adorable engagement story you can read here. You can’t beat happy & talented.

Some Girls Wander
Emily is probably the most adorable thing in the world. A successful artist, this is her fashion blog where you can see her indie-Victorian style. And scheme to make her your new best friend.

Their Lives

Apricot Tea
Opinionated and earnest, Ev’Yan’s blog mixes fashion, personal journaling and photography to form a web of beautiful and complicated truths about her life.

Awmb
A real life friend of mine, Amber (affectionately known as Awmber) is as relentlessly crafty as she is buoyant. An open heart and warm sense of humour in downtown Vancouver make her one of my favourites.

Christopher and Tia
Young cool families make me weak kneed and wish I had more visible tattoos. A military family, handmade advocates and gluten free bakers this family of four is up and down beautiful.

Confessions of a Jersey Girl
A military fiancée and upstart photographer, Rachel is outgoing and heartfelt. Her blog is an emotional and uplifting reflection of her life in New Jersey and her journey to define herself.

Cusp of Normal
While you may already have a “champion thumb wrestler/mermaid enthusiast” folder in your google reader, Amanda’s blog really is unique. She has a stunner of a naughty greyhound named Luke & her husband has been known to wear tiny little aprons during his cooking exploits. I know. Get your popcorn.

Doniree
Aspiring yogi, veteran traveller and wannabe foodie, Doniree (Donna-ree, not Donna-Ray people) is as unique as her name. A southern girl immersed in northern life while building community and getting location independent, her life is unconventional and compelling.

Emily Jane
My real life best friend, Emily is thoroughly British and thoroughly herself. Delicate but into punk, living in Canada but with her heart washed over in all things UK, Emily’s blog is her day to day journey to pull her heart and life into the same place. Oh, and I’m the maid of honour in her December 2010 wedding! Very exciting.

Every Day Adventures In The City
To me, Jessica is Chicago personified. Opinionated and professional, caring and outspoken, fashionable and independent. She writes about everything from going home to small town Wisconsin to pop culture and etiquette, with warmth, a bit of challenge, and good humour.

Fat Mum Slim
Oh. My. Beautiful. Blog. Stylish and inspiring, this young Aussie mom takes living a styled life to a new level. Her blog is my gold standard for unified design from writing to photography to just the content she chooses to serve up. Must visit.

I art a day
Jenny is so talented that it’s hard to talk about. Her creativity spills over from showing her art to baking to sewing. Sometimes she goes a while between posts, but whenever she comes back I’m always excited to see where she’s been.

It’s Like I’m….mmmagic!
One of the first blogs that I started reading! Brandy’s humor, story telling, teaching related antics and secret project make her something of a blogging whirl wind. Send her seasons of The West Wing and peonies to win her heart- you’ll be glad you did.

Jamie Ann
Another one of the first personal blogs I started reading, Jamie Ann is something of a 20SB monolith. A plugged in Chicagoian, Jamie has worked with Brand About Town, donned a McDonald’s bag hat at BlogHer, and reports back to a young corgi named Edie. Irreverent and often short but sweet, Jamie’s blog is a tip of the iceberg affair that I adore.

Just a Titch
Not many 26 year olds have the life experience that Amy does and starting in 2009, Amy is a new voice to be reckoned with. She lives in California with her boyfriend Andrew, and is passionate about her writing, relationships, and the new life she’s built for herself.

Kapachino
A nurse and wife, Kathleen has a plate so full that it’s hard to know where she finds time to blog but the moments from her life are beautiful. God loving, an avid reader, and pioneer woman devotee, Kathleen’s blog is approachable and sweet.

Kempt Life
Andrea is magnetic. A philosophy major whose ability to write makes me wish I had a pinky finger’s worth of her talent. Kept life is a collection of things that make her sigh, moments from her weekends, and her thoughts on adjusting to life on the east coast of Canada.

Knowing The Difference
Mandy loves Barry Manilow, Gone With The Wind, her golden retriever, and her small town. Her stories about Ohio are picturesque and day dreamy, and her ability for clear minded self reflection makes me weak at the knees. And she posts pictures of her dog in costume from time to time, which is so hilariously at odds with the contemplative nature of her blog that it just makes me burst out laughing and fall a little more in love with her.

Lauren from Texas
Every now and then I find a blog that I am completely drawn into, and Lauren’s is just that. A Texan through and through, she has deep faith, love, and friendships that make her blog entertaining, down to earth and welcoming. Someone I need to meet someday.

La Midge
An animal welfare enthusiast, puppy mama, wife, and transplanted Californian living in Texas, La Midge is just another person who makes me want to run away and join the South. Although I won’t offend her by calling her Southern. Very cute and a little geeky, she’s handy with a camera, a vegetarian, and adorably irreverent.

Lisa’s Yarns
Avid knitter, reader, book club member, and not too shabby in the kitchen either, Lisa’s Yarns is full of sweet anecdotes about Minnesota life and photos of projects that will make you turn green and hone your skillz. Or demand that she send you things. Either way.

luxe chandelier
Happily married, Steph Anne posses a talent and energy for making her home beautiful that could could rival Young House Love. Steph Anne’s blog has followed her through getting a cochlear implant, her engagement to her high school sweetheart, and her weight loss journey. Beautiful moments of Arizona life.

Michelle Woo
Michelle Woo describes herself as a writer, editor, and dreamer- and she is all of those. Published in KoreAm, USA Today, and New American Media, MichelleWoo.com is where she gets silly, from wedding planning and stories about her fiance to hosting giveaways and musing about names for hypothetical children. Michelle’s blog reverberates with happiness and enthusiasm.

Miss Elle Bee
Elle Bee is a strong voice in Edmonton’s politics and PR scene. Having just gone back to school her posting is light, but she gives beautiful snippets of her school, being away from her boyfriend, and working through a new phase of her life. Teeming with a strong sense of family and conviction, Miss Elle Bee is someone I always love to peek in on.

More Is Better
Nicole is a whirlwind of ideas. Living life as a nomad in the fall of 2009, she city hopped for months meeting bloggers and gathering up stories. Think that’s ambitious? Well she’s also a primary force behind Bloggers in Sin City, HandsIn, and once owned a cookie shop. Her frenetic storytelling conveys her personality perfectly and makes her moments of poignancy hit you where it hurts.

No Ordinary Rollercoaster
A writer’s blogger, Ben is equal parts talent and ambition. He works on the social media side of things with the Canadian branding company Revolve, but also writes publicly about life in the East with his boyfriend and two dachshunds. His video blogs are hilarious, and his posts will alternately make you giggle and break your heart.

Our Little Apartment
Growing up abroad (think Malaysia, Hawaii) where we step into Ashley’s life may seem middle american, but she’s anything but. Vegetarianism and living green are huge passions in her life and her blog is often a journal of both her love of family and working to bring her life in line with her passions.

Probably Tabitha
A newly wed (and head over heels in love with her sweet husband) Tabitha lives in Santa Barbra and writes about day to day life in her marriage, with her family, and about her faith. Blogging only since 2009, her genuine style and ability to drill straight to the heart of the bigger issue she’s writing about, as well as her warmth and humour, make her one of my favourite reads.

Ramblings of a Fab Brunette
A fashionable young Toronto mom, relocated to Vancouver and with her eyes firmly set on Paris Fab Brunette has the best of all worlds. Warm and ambitious, a business owner and girlfriend, Fab sits in between the Mommy Bloggers and Twenty Something Bloggers of the world with her daughter Princess, drinking it all in. One of my favourites.

Roots & Rings
Always inviting and homey, Roots and Rings is Chelsea’s corner of the internet to chronicle everything from her marriage (that’s the rings part!) to the roots that took over their new homeowners experience (that’s the roots part!) two days into their new life together. Chelsea writes about her faith, her husband, The Biggest Loser, and has started a mini-revolution in some circles with her Ten On Tuesday meme. Always funny, approachable and honest.

Rumination Reading Room
Even Moorea’s name is intriguing, and her blog just spins a larger rabbit hole for you to fall into. And you’ll want to fall in. She’s an incredibly talented etsy artist (I covet her things. A lot.), musician, and illustrator living in Seattle whose dreamy voice is echoed in the beautiful world she presents in her blog.

Rugged Fox
A real life friend, Rugged Fox is where the persona of my good friend Sean lives. Rugged Fox serves as an alcohol soaked foray into the life of queer Vancouver through the eyes of Fox- holding it together while it all goes (fabulously) wrong.

SoMi Speaks
Nilsa is wonderful. Sincere, direct and bold, her blog deals with her opinions (she has lots of them!), her stories, and her life in Chicago with her husband and dog SoMi. A newly wed seeking balance, Nilsa is much beloved for her sense of humour, straight talking and fearlessness.

Stylish Handwriting
E.P. is delightful. Delightfully southern, talented, and down to earth. With her puppy in tow, E.P. is a photojournalist with an eye for capturing life as it is. And she’s getting married this year! Always humble, E.P. will make you wish you grew up in Louisiana.

The State That I Am In
I haven’t used the word honest here a lot, because I’ve been saving it for Erin. Erin’s honesty is gut wrenching. An early childhood special education teacher, The State That I Am In is a place for all facets of her life, including her marriage, puppies and battling infertility. Her Face of Infertility project is amazing and heart breaking, and the universe is going to have to get its act together and give her a baby soon or I’m going to punch it in the stomach.

Those Corwins
Those Corwins, Steph and Cale, are hilarious, adorable and live in Southern California. They’re kind of priceless, and it’s not just because Steph has photoshopped my hair onto her head in the past just to see what it would look like, and then posted the results. Okay it might be a little related to that.

Two L’s Please
With a penchant for using songs as her post titles, a mean little moustachey etsy shop, and a deep hatred of beets (but a resolution to eat them every month), Hillary always makes me laugh. Always. Quirky and earnest, she writes about her worries, her relationships, and her crazy awesome battle beasts puppies.

Walking With Nora
Honest and reflective, Nora is one of the biggest hearts out there in blogging. Based in St. Louis, she’s direct, self deprecating, and strong. Family is a huge part of her life, and her blog is an examination of her daily life while she picks up the pieces to become a better version of her. She’s one of my favourites.

Yeah Honestly
German, living in America, and married to a combat medic, Stefanie’s life is about family and living the army life of constant relocation. A student with great insight who is truly grateful for her beautiful and crazy life, Stefanie’s perspective is always refreshing and joyful.

Your Wishcake
Quirky and creative, with a knack for reminiscing and self portraits, Kerri at Your Wishcake is another keystone of my blogging world. Heartfelt and unapologetic, her blog is a beautiful reflection of the bigger picture of her heart- from self esteem, to faith, marriage and living far from family. An established Etsy artist, it’s not long before she’ll be making her living through her creativity so you’ll want to grab onto her coat tails while you can.
