I’m a little obsessed with photography. I can’t really talk tech with you, but I learned on film and while I love my digital camera, I’m too used to the squeaky clean digital look and instant results. When I see posts & pictures with lots of texture or a pretty vintage frame I go weak in the knees.
I got my Diana a little while ago and I still have to post my first pictures here, but I’ve recently become fixated with the idea of getting an instant photo back for it. And I want to an old fashioned SLR to play with when I’m in the mood!
I tell you, when I become independently wealthy, it’s on. For now I’ll just treat myself to Starbucks and dream… :)

I’m going to channel my inner Kyla this weekend when I go to take photos of my niece … my mom has requested the photo shoot, so she can frame some photos.
I absolutely LOVE film. I have an old Nikon film camera, and it used to be my main camera. I took a photography class in high school, and I learned how to develop film in the dark room, and I was fascinated. I bought my Nikon D5000 mainly because film is so expensive (including developing–I long for my own dark room!), and it’s nice to get my pictures instantly sometimes. I’ll always love film, though. Ah, film grain!
I’ve always wanted one of these! Maybe it’s time to finally get one. Perhaps after I purchase my new lens and have some more money, haha.
I’ve never properly learned how to take pictures – on film or otherwise. I would love to learn, maybe take a class. Someday.
I love my Lubitel! But sadly, I have to send off my film to get developed. I don’t shoot it as often as when I was in school and developed my own film.
I love my Diana, but I don’t use it often since it’s so pricey to buy & develop film. I want a 35mm Holga or perhaps a multi-lens camera so I can take a million photos a day!
I know what you mean! If you still want to play with yours, you can always have the film developed first and then only pick a few to have made into prints- it can really cut down on the expense. :)
I saw a Diana Cam at Paper Source in WDC last week and immediately thought of you :) I hope you bring one of these gems to Minne in July so we can play with it!
I really want a Holga camera. And a Polaroid. But I love looking through thrift stores and finding these old cameras. So fun!

I loooove photography too! Learned on digital but I’m in love with the look of film so I just picked up a mint condition 35mm canon (at my fave local thrift shop for $25! Feel so lucky!) to teach myself on. I’m beyond excited! There’s just Something about shooting film–you shoot more deliberatly an slow down…i love it.

I would LOVE for you to do a tech post on the settings you use with your DSLR. Though, I think you have a Canon and I have a Nikon but my photos always turn out kind of yellow-y and I desperately want to change that!!

I used to love photography – mostly makeovers. Not that I had endless slumber parties where I forced everyone I knew to let me do their hair, makeup and pose them with cheesy fabric backdrops I made or anything.. that would have been lame. ::stares at feet::
Then everything went digital or you needed to heavily edit and perfect your photos before they were worthy of blogging and I kind of lost touch.
The idea of a Diana? So… tempting. ;-)
I got my instax for like 60-something on amazon and picked up a 100-pack of film on ebay for around $55! I haven’t had a chance to mess with it much because I bought me DSLR around the same time, but so far I think it’s a great little thing :)

my friend just came back from travelling around europe, and she only used film cameras… oh my goodness. the photos came out SO gorgeous. the grainy texture and the deep contrast. it really captured to beauty around her.
I have the instant and 35mm back to the Diana. i love them! I think you would to!

I LOVE those cameras! Part of me even wants an old school Polariod so I can have those candid photos to post on a wall. The top viewing one is my favorite!
