Tell them that house house is not for sale

by Kyla Roma on March 15, 2010

in Her Life, Little House on the Prairie, Prairie Style

Last month Mister and I came thisclose to selling the little house. A friend did a walk through, and loved it. We got thinking about all its drawbacks and how cramped we can feel here sometimes. So we even made a plan B- we talked with a realtor, cheered over the list price she recommended in case our friend didn’t buy, and got fired up.

We started thinking things like:

Who can live in this little house!? It’s smaller than our last apartment.

And it was decided. We would move. We felt very decisive and adult.

And then Mister asked one little question:

But Kyla, wouldn’t you like to start a business? It’s all you talk about. You could start selling on etsy again, you could keep putting time into your blog, you could start doing design work…. if we move that would be really hard. Why don’t we give you a chance to do what you’re in love with?

That kid is just full of good ideas & this summer will bring many good things, including not moving even a little bit and the launch of a new little business in these parts.

I think a pre-emptive: WOO HOO! is in order.

I think Mister is pretty awesome for telling you that. I am glad that you are going to pursue some of your dreams and make some things happen for yourselves. I’m sensing a Summer of Kyla on the horizon. I can’t wait to follow along seeing where it all takes you. (Side note: I just swooned over your kitchen.)

The lure of moving can be so strong, huh? It’s like the houses are always better down some other lane. But, usually, we can make do just fine in the home we already call our own.

Can’t wait to see what “little business” is in store this summer!!

That support from your Mister, wow! That’s a good idea too, if you can’t work on what you want to do if you move, waiting would be good because having your own business would be more rewarding overall. From all the photos your house looks pretty cute too.

It’ll be interesting seeing your progress :)

Yes, yes, yes! Congratulations on staying grounded. It’s so important to keep our eyes on the prize: what really matters to us.

I’m a compulsive mover, a compulsive changer-upper. And I’ve finally learned that all that uprooting was really just distracting me from the Work I Need To Do.

Congratulations on staying put, and on following your heart. :)

And I’m like you, I like to keep on the move but taking that energy and putting it into something creative instead sounds like a far better idea to me. Thank goodness it occurred to one of us!
