I can't imagine a cold like that, but I suppose one gets used to it.

We got lots and lots of spring rain this weekend all of sudden everything is green! It's wonderful to see and feel spring.

I love your descriptions of winter (you write so so beautifully and descriptively)-- reading this brought back memories of growing up in Minnesota. living in southern CA, I sometimes REALLY miss winter, actually.

may your spring be beautiful in every way :)

You have such a way with words, it's really inspiring. Now I want to sit down and write my own blog post about life in small(ish) town Texas, haha. But seriously, this post is beautiful.

Awwww, this is beautiful! I adore the way you write about your life. There are days when I feel suffocated by the city. It's beautiful, and there is TONS to do, and there are beaches and theme parks and football stadiums and quaint colorful houses stacked almost on top of one another, and music and summer fairs and freeways and people and and...there are days when all of it chokes me! I want to get away, be under only the sky and the stars and see only...nothingness...wilderness...for miles. It's the country girl in me, the little girl who used to play in her grandpa's woods for hours, the little girl who's favorite activity was picking violets and making up imaginery lilac people. There are days I love the city, and there are days when I long for something much simpler, more real. I don't know if that makes sense, but anyway. Thanks for this little sneak peak into your life! <3

I like the thought of being sealed in by ice, with all the time in the world to let my passions take flight. You have a great turn of phrase.

Oh, Kyla, I LOVE those photos, and I love what you said about "being known" in your city. I think that's endlessly important, even in the biggest of cities: carving out a niche for yourself and having some sort of a routine, so that people come to expect you, and you, them. I love being out and about in Portland and randomly running into friends.

I love this post, Kyla. I am incredibly tied to my small town as well. This time of year I always question why I live here because its raw, gritty, and barren but then spring rolls around and its green and beautiful again. For me, life along the river is a way of life. Its hard to fathom a life without it. Your pictures are lovely. I'm glad that its warmed up so you can get out and about a bit easier.
