I’m sure we’re all nearly Valentined out, so this weekend I have a project for you that’s about love but that doesn’t involve roses or expensive food. It’s even free.
If you own animals, show them you love them by getting an “In Case Of Emergency” sticker for your house or apartment. In case something goes wrong these allow your hunky neighbourhood firemen to know a little more about the situation they are walking into, including how many animals will be inside your home, and what their names are so they can call for them.
They’re available at your local humane society or in the US and Canada you can click below to have the ASPCA send one to you at no cost.

This is so neat. We don’t have any pets but we will be watching our friend’s golden retriever for a week starting today. I am really excited about this experience because we have always wanted a dog but were scared that we wouldn’t have time for him/her. This will be a good opportunity to experience life with a pet!

One of my husband’s coworkers had a fire at home recently and he lost all of his pets…my heart just breaks at the thoughts of it.
We have a fire escape plan for if we were HOME…but how would anybody know if we weren’t there…
Now I can be happy knowing my fur babies are safe(r)

What a great idea! I live in Australia and I don’t think we have this here, but I’ll look into it and maybe make a suggestion to our RSPCA. When I was a kid I went through stages of “scary things” and at one point was terrified of our house catching fire. The worst thought was that somehow I couldn’t get my dog and cat out okay! My parents came up with a plan specifically for the animals in case of fire.

An added bonus, I have a friend who is a firefighter and she said they REALLY DO note the sign and make an attempt to get out that number. So it’s a good idea to have them at both your front and back entrances and to have them where they are easy to spot! :)

I live in an apartment hence we can’t own a pet :’( When I was living in a house before we used to own this fat, greedy, lab x rott dog who I loved to bits.

Excellent idea!! This would be great for us. I even told Tyler the other day I want to give our neighbors our contact information (including cell phone numbers) in case of an emergency. I think we’ll do that soon!
