This weekend we did things that involved lists, 3 hours of shopping at 3 different nursery’s, a lot of falling asleep between errands & baking (ok, that was my department) and pie….

Following the garden plan from earlier this month…

The garden is in!

Taking out I don’t KNOW how many terrible, huge stones and carting them around

making hanging baskets

baking and eating some pie!
Which is work, but it’s work that cancels out the hauling around of great stones, re-seeding your front and back yard, and essentially rendering yourself unable to walk for a few days after the work is done.
The good news? Within two weeks we’ve taken care of ALL big outdoor projects. While I’m in Vegas Mister is re-staining our deck and then we can focus on falling asleep in the sun and eating our heirloom tomatoes all summer. Which I can definitely do.
What did you get up to this weekend?

Oh. my. gosh.
That pie looks AMAZING. It’s the one thing I’ve never tried… is making a pie really as difficult as it sounds?
And I love your little gardens… I can’t wait to see pictures of the finished yard / deck!

I think your garden looks lovely! I’m hoping it’s not too late in the year down here to plant our herb garden. I thought about buying hanging flower pots for our front porch, but I may plant my own now!

okay I feel that by saying this doesn’t appreciate all the hard work you guys did in the yard but that APPLE PIE LOOKS AMAZING (you must post the recipe). But seriously the gardens look great and are going to be so worth it.

I am so jealous for your garden and those boxes. David and I didn’t think to start on something like this until it was too late in this area. Oh well, maybe next year. The hanging basket is really pretty and that pie (apple, right? my favorite!) wouldn’t have lasted an entire day in my house. So what are the plans for the big rocks you pulled out of the grass and how on earth will you get the holes from the rocks filled to “match” the other grass?

Wow! Y’all did A LOT of work this weekend! I’m impressed. I’ve told the boy that whenever we have a house, we WILL have a summer garden in the backyard. He didn’t sound too excited about it until I told him it would be awesome.
Less than a week ’til Vegas!!!

“falling asleep in the sun and eating our heirloom tomatoes all summer” <– this sounds excellent hon! Im jealous I cant wait to own a house so I can plant a garden. For now, I will deal with potted flowers and window baskets and bush tomatoes on my patio.
ps- you can never have enough basil. i bought some basil plants at the farmers market this past weekend- theyre waiting in my window sill to be planted. :D

I’m impressed with your yard work skills. Ted and I have some major yard work to do still, but it’s hard with Ted only have one weekend day off a week. We have big plans to build a retaining wall in a couple of weeks. Oy!
