I am a pale, pale girl...and completely proud of it! I used to be jealous of all those tan girls, but now I've come to appreciate just how lovely my skin is the way it is.

My personal rule is that i can NEVER fake tan but always take advantage of time spent in the sun in the summer. I wear sunscreen on my face daily but many days my legs are bare. I get more pink tan than brown tan and wish I had olive skin...but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't get to have natural blond hair and olive skin and I looove the blond. So I'll take it.

And you WILL look hot when you are 40!!

I love everyone's different philosophies about tanning, and about skin colour too!

Rachel - I'm still jealous of your tan, don't think I'm not for a moment!! lol

Andihari - I had NO IDEA there were such things as whitening lotions! That blows my mind

EP - You and I can be hilariously white in Vegas together. We'll get through this.

Thanks guys!

I feel the same way as you do about tanning. My co-workers make fun of me because I'm so ridiculous when it comes to wearing sunscreen. I was never a huge 'I need to get tan' fan because my skin tans well and quickly. But now? I'd much rather be fair if I can help it.

The only tan parts of me are my arms and face. The rest of me is pale, pale, pale. That should make the swimming pool experience in Vegas interesting, heh.

I applaud your 'no tan' motto this year. Good idea. I think the same way you do now, look good now and still look amazing when I'm 40 because I didn't fry myself in my 20's. A friend of mine is 29 and I swear she looks almost 35ish because of the wrinkles on her face, which she tans to try and "hide" because when she's her natural color they stick out more. *sigh*

Ah, I struggle with the whole tanning thing as well. I LOVE getting a tan but I am starting to worry about the toll all the sun will take on my skin in the future... perhaps I should think of giving up the tan as well... or at least trade in the tanning oil for sunscreen.

Yay for embracing the pale! I say you should work what you got! In high school I tried using self tanner but then my legs were just streaky orange. When the self tanner got a bit better I bought some again a few years back but then again was too streaky. So now I'm determined to say as pale as could be because I'd rather be all or nothing. And yeah, totally looking forward to looking great when I'm 50 instead of all wrinkled! Skin cancer is NO JOKE!

You totally have the right idea, there are so many pruny and wrinkled ladies here and it's all because they love going to the south of France or the Caribbean and lying naked in the sun for hours on end. When we were in Guadeloupe I was the only woman on the beach not exposing my breasts and who actually went in the water. I found it really sad.
