Deco Baby

12 May 2009 | Craft & Fashion & DIY, Prairie Style, Stories About:

I’ve been looking for a small bag for a long time, one with long straps that I can throw a few things into before I go – one that’s casual but eye catching. Mostly because I’m not casual about my bags. I come prepared – my bags are usually huge, filled with day timers, water bottles, a lunch kit, books, and loot from drug stores I duck into on my way home from work. Like a lot of my clothes, my bags are usually black or in muted colours.

{I especially love how the smaller handle looks like a little bow}

{She’s a little deco, but it’s not her fault}

This is my favourite find from my vintage rampage this weekend. There is something very summer about the bright turquoise colour, and maybe with it’s help I can start being a little more casual too. I could just hop on a bike and see where I end up – maybe I’ll even go somewhere without my iPhone!

….okay, maybe not. Still, I bet there are some good summer adventures in store me with this little one in tow!

That is beautiful! I found an amazing bag on my thrift store adventure this weekend too :) It’s more of a tote/messenger style, bright turquoise with a really pretty pattern on the front. How fun!

very cute, I’m diggin’ her shape. I want a little brown leather one just like this.. I can picture it in my head, but no luck finding it in real life. *smile*

That bag is absolutely wonderful! I love how funky and colorful it is. It’ll definitely draw some attention and set off the neutral colors you wear!

Oh, she’s gorgeous!

It’s cute! It is very deco, kinda 80’s, but that’s what makes it precious.

I was just thinking how the handle looked like a little bow before I read the part where you said it, great minds! ;)

I think I am about to try bike riding and thrifting today downtown…wish me luck!

What a pretty color! I love the bag :) I just recently bought my first creamy white colored leather bag and my black and white shirt ended up bleeding onto the bag! I’ve washed the shirt many times so I don’t understand it. Now I have to get my bag cleaned and I hope it works out.

PRETTTYYY I always love bright turquoise for bags, shoes or even pretty bracelets :)

I LOVE that bag- I don’t have any spring clothes but I have so many bags, I just can’t help it.

I think that bag accomplishes just what you wanted out of something casual. Very pretty. LOVE the color!

Gorgeous purse! It reminds me of an art deco purse I once owned … white, black and turquoise. Loved it much, just like I love yours!

So you!

I’ve never seen a cuter blue bag. Love it!

Oh that bag is SO cute! I’m like you, I carry HUGE bags to fit all my crap in usually and most of my bags are neutral colours! I want to get a fun coloured one for summer though!

It’s cute… for you! I could NEVER use such a small purse. I think I would have a nervous breakdown. Like you, I have to carry everything with me. Although, lately, I haven’t been carrying as much because my shoulders are starting hurt (& I think that’s a sign!).

:]

great find! I am loving that bag…and the color is so perfect for late spring! I’ve been dying to get either a blue, orange or mellow pink bag lately. here I am all jealous again…im going to have to work on that :)

and my bag is exactly the same way! I carry EVERYTHING in it…from my nalgene water bottle to my wallet, to chapstick, to my cell phone and a little notebook…its a black hole. lol!

Oh my! I’m in love. It’s look amazing as a night purse with a black dress.

I love how I’m planning what it’d look nice with, but don’t even own it.

I love the bag. Perfect color and size. Bring it to Vegas? I wish I could fit my junk in a bag as small as that. Sigh.

I love it! I have a similar problem with purses. I don’t like to carry obnoxious “teacher bags”, so I end up with giant purses to cart everything I need around.

I left my house without my iPhone the other day…the resulting panic was not pleasant!

supercute and LOVE the color!

I love shopping in charity shops (we dont have many “thrift” stores here, they’re usually always for charity.

I love this bag, the colour and shape. Have just discovered your blog and it looks ace. Love your style and will have to remember to make brooches- your photo reminded me!

I love that color.

I have a few bags with some bright prints/colors which only come out to play in the spring and sumemr months, such as right now! I’m sure you’ll see one or two of my favs in Vegas but really, I just love the blue color of this bag.

We had a bag sale at my work a couple of weeks ago! Shiny new purses galore… I absolutely fell in LOVE with this beautiful olive green one… but I knew it wouldn’t go with anything, and it was $50, so I decided if anything was going to replace my trusty ten-year-old faux CK bag, it’d better be something that would go with everything. And I caved and bought a muted taupe one (which is absolutely delightful, and the talk of the office!)… but now I see this pretty little post and I wish I’d gone for green instead. I really should start vintage shopping with you on a regular basis :)
