Good Omens Come To Those Who Wait

by Kyla Roma on February 23, 2009

in Her Life

A few weeks ago when I was trying to figure out if I should take the new job I was looking at or not I mentioned that I was l going to keep my eyes peeled for a sign that would point me in the right direction.

I’m not really someone who actually looks for signs, so I just trusted in myself & left the mystical out of it. Then on my last day of work I was randomly bombarded by more good omens than you could shake a stick at:

  • I caught Ash downstairs not a moment before he was going to puncture a hole in a battery that he had quietly broken open the TV remote to steal.
  • Two pairs of shoes I ordered online were delivered with 24 hours of my purchasing them.
  • A customer lavished me with a crazy amount of praise, completely randomly.
  • The work ladies and I went out for lunch at a big restaurant and it took 15 mins. to place our order. To make up for it they gave our entire table everything we’d ordered for free. And offered us complimentary drinks & desert.
  • My parting gift was a prop from a specific song in my favourite show that I haven’t mentioned at work, but sing constantly at home.
  • While walking the puppies I was charged by an aggressive off leash dog. Using all my Dog Whisperer Skillz I challenged him, backed him off my dogs and I, then tied my puppies up. With body language and eye contact (and, apparently psychic abilities) I was able to get him to calm down & submit so I could grab his collar & find his owner for him.

On a day when it was difficult to be leaving, it was nice to feel like something was there, nudging me in the right direction.

To say good bye I made everyone Red Velvet Cupcakes, hugged pretty much everyone, got a thorough sugar rush and then kind of danced my way to the bus when I had wrapped everything up. I was sad to be leaving, but I couldn’t help it! Something just feels so good about leaving because you need a new challenge, not because you have to get out immediately and call the human rights commission once you’ve left the compound.

To celebrate, Mister and I had an amazing dinner out at tucked away, mostly veg/vegan restaurant where I can actually choose from multiple menu items (WOO!) and then went out and bought new reduced ingredient puppy food from our vet. Because we know how to party.

And because it wouldn’t be a life changing decision if I didn’t break into full body hives from the stress I’ve been repressing, I got home and promptly exploded into full body hives. But you know what that means? It’s means I’ve officially let it all go. And I had left over cupcakes to get me through the weekend, which is a good omen in and of it’s self, I think.

Also, cupcakes were invented by angels I think. Because OMG they are delish!

Before I comment on the post, absolutely love the new photos on the left sidebar. Adorable dogs, great couple.

As for the omens/signs, they come when you least expect I think! And congrats on using your Dog Whisperer skills so quickly and effectively. I carry mase with me since there are several dogs in my neighborhood who randomly come after Jack and I. I command them as best as I can, but one never knows.

Happy Monday!

Wow – Cesar would be proud. Now – want to come to Brooklyn and train my dog? Because I think my dog would make Cesar Millan cry, but maybe you have to special Skillz required.

If those aren’t auspicious signs, I don’t know what are! And woot to finding a restaurant where you can order something other than the house salad or the ceasar with no bacon (did they even HAVE bacon in Ceasar’s time?)

Red Velvet anything is my favorite. I made some cupcakes a couple weeks ago and ate them up way too quickly. I think it’s time to make another batch.

Hey! Thanks for checking out my blog. I’m enjoying your blog too! I noticed from a past post that you worked at a children’s theatre? Me too; a few years ago I was the artistic director for 2 children’s theatres–one in TX, one in NC–they’re great fun, aren’t they?

Looking forward to reading more about you and your new job adventures!

I hope you’re feeling better and that the hives have gone down.

Do you have a good recipe for Red Velvet Cake? I’ve been dying to make it.. it’s just so aesthetically pleasing.. but I hear that it can be hit and miss finding good recipes. Though I guess if I want it purely for photoshoot opportunities it doesn’t much matter.. *chuckle*
