Down Time: Est. 2004

First of all, I would just like to say thank you to everyone who came out of the internet woodwork (you heard it here, the internet is made of wood) to say congratulations to Jesse and I on our marriage – 34 of you were compelled to say something nice! That’s crazy! There were only 27 people at our wedding to say nice things to us, and that includes us saying nice things to each other! I’m flattered, a little flustered, and really excited to make the acquaintance of new readers.

(PS – Seriously where are you guys coming from? Let’s be honest, I am on no ones blogroll! Check Technorati, it’s true! Did my mom send you??)

The past few days following the wedding have been a falling back into a routine that we gave up over a year ago, and a long slow realization that I have been running off my feet since mere moments after I graduated. I scrambled for a job after being involved with a new media startup, landed with a film/televison/RnD company almost drowned in the workload for 5 months, moved in October, house hunted from February – May, moved in July and got married on Saturday! Every night it’s been planning one move or another, searching for jobs, planning a wedding, or house hunting. The last time I had time to just be calm, work, and persue my interests was….in 2004?

Honestly, how sad is that?

I’m so excited for the coming months, this free time is going to mean projects every which way and time to write! My brain is still having a little trouble processing this so here’s a preview of some of the things that, in the heat of wedding planning, I haven’t been able to report on properly:

1. My gushing, crazy, unhinged love of Halloween. I carve a crazy pumpkin, and you can consider that a warning. My house is in a very foot traffic & young family friendly area so for the first time I have not just a viable possibility of trick or treater’s, but a guarantee. There are two elementary schools and one high school within 5 blocks of our house. We’re in. Since this is our Halloween in the house we’re going to make an impression: 4 Tim Burton themed pumpkins, and probably one Disney pumpkin for the kidlets. Can I start carving now?
2. My sewing skillz. I’m bringing my friend Emily Jane sketches for her Halloween costume and we’re going to get her suited up. We both play World of Warcraft (neither as much as we used to, I swear) and she’s going as a night elf. I’m going to make sure that she does it in style.
3. My Crazy Neighbours, who have set up a web cam in their yard to monitor us & our proximity to their yard.
4. My inability to hold down (or stay with) a job. More on this to come very shortly.
5. Home Renovations!! Because we have really re-vamped this place and you should see it!
6. Etsy Updates! A couple of weeks ago I relaunched my etsy store under the name Kyla Bea Crafty, and now that the wedding is out of the way I’m going to be able to stock it! I’m working on headbands, card sets, and more cowls, neckwarmers, and general coziness.
7. The puppies. If only because Mal has started watching me blog.
