in crafts + diy, Hands On!, Me & My Mister

For Jar Decoration

54  Mason Jars (125 ml)
54 Feet of Navy blue ribbon
5″ pre-cut fabric squares
Hot Glue

For Tags

Large Circle punch & white card stock
Acrylic alphabet stamp & mounting block for labels
Small rectangular punch for pre-threading ribbon

For Bags & Tea

Start by weaving No, not really – we just bought these from a retail wholesaler, 100 bags for $5.00

27 Guests makes 54 jars

Endless ribbon, cloth, and hot glue dots

Two Handmade Treats for Everyone

And some cinnamon tea in their bags for good measure!

Total cost for the project was $138.00 or $5.00 per guest

The favours will be displayed on the chef’s table on either side of the cupcake tower that is our wedding cake. At the end of the night they’ll be given a bag, pre-stuffed with an Archer Farms Cinnamon tea (we can get away with this because most of the guests are Canadian and don’t know about archer farms!), a jar of apple butter and a jar of wild blueberry jelly.

This afternoon are my hair and makeup trials – and then I get to bus home in full Bride Mode! Should be fun! Have a good weekend guys – and more good news, I’m back on the knitting bandwagon – I’ll have store updates before the wedding!

The jars are gorgeous! What a treat for guests to take home something you made for them. Good luck with your bridal trials today and have a great weekend yourself!

That’s so cute! I’m certain that’s going to be the most popular wedding favor ever. Short of cold hard cash…

Hi hon! Loving it. So much. You inspire me.

Just wondering if you had an estimate (in US dollars) how much that whole thing cost you? Sometimes when I get into craft mode, I am so shocked how expensive those supplies can be. It kind of kills my craft buzz… and I shortly give up.

Good luck with your bride beauty day!

oh how yummy it all looks! i’m still thinking i should try making some apple butter, but it’ll have to wait till the party this weekend and a couple of the art projects dies down (ha!). we certainly know how to keep ourselves busy don’t we? are you and the man getting super excited about the rapidly approaching “big day”? besides the hair/face day – what all do you have left to do, except make the vows and start the party?

Your favors turned out wonderfully! What a great idea–they look fantastic. There’s no way I could have pulled anything like that off! I hope the hair/makeup trials went well!

These turned out so well! You know how I love jelly, you’re going to have to keep these under lock & key. I don’t know what apple butter is . . . But I’m sure if you made it it’s delicious!

Love this. I just found your blog and it will definitely be added to my reader. For my ultra-simple wedding, we made tea bags for favors. We just got loose tea and some of the tea pouches you can use to make a whole pot of loose tea. We filled each bag with a few spoons of fair trade green tea, and then tied it closed with a piece of blue string and a little piece of green card stock that i wrote our names and date on in some cute handwriting. Why I’m writing this, I am not sure, but there you go. Hope you have a great wedding and a simple, joy-filled, long-lasting marriage!

I am actually doing this idea for my wedding next fall but I was just wondering how you canned the apple butter. Can it just sit out or will it spoil? I can’t find small mason jars lilke that, just some small regular jars. How did you can them?
