The week is ending on a really high note, because as of today we are officially done with calls and meetings for the wedding! Just the fun stuff from here on in. I have started working on our guestbook, which I’m going to scrapbook, I bought some beads and earring hooks for earrings that I may wear if they turn out to be passable, and we have the flowers all settled (after the really cool florist who I loved ended up threatening to charge me $200 for a quote she never e-mailed to me after 3 weeks of waiting for a wedding that’s a month away). Needless to say they’re settled with a new florist.
Oh no she’s doing the wedding thing again. Let’s just start skimming…
NO NO! IT’S JUST A COUPLE MORE THINGS! I SWEAR! SORRY!!
The minister loved our ceremony, which as someone who is getting married in the United Church but has never attended a church service was a huge relief. I was terrified that she would think the service was too modern or too secular or something and in the end she asked to keep it as an example of a modern ceremony. Woo!
We’ve decided on our ceremony music – to be played by a family friend on guitar, no vocals:
Processional – Love And Some Verses – Iron and Wine
Signing of the Register – I’ll Back You Up – Dave Matthews Band
Recessional – First Day Of My Life – Bright Eyes (this is the geeky one I’m really laughing to myself about)
And I can’t really express how relieved I am that most of this is just done – I just get to relax for the weekend, be bitten by puppies, and listen to music for as long as I want. That feels like some kind of weekend to me.
In exciting bloggy news, I have been handed a kudos by Captivating Woman About The Internet, Amanda at Cusp of Normal which is confirmation that there is at least one person other than my mom reading my writing – so thank you Amanda!

The rules of the award:

I’m passing this along to some of the bloggers I’ve found recently, as I’m a recent addition to the internet, and have fallen for:

Check them all out if you have a few – they’re all wonderful writers and sweet people to boot.

Okay, you’re ALLOWED to blog away about your wedding stuffs – it IS kind of a big deal. I counted them up yesterday and realized that at least 12 sets of people I know personally have gotten engaged or married in the last year – so needless to say I’m used to the topic (although I must say yours has been the most creative and least cringe-inspiring).
And yeah, it’s a little cheesy, but I love the Bright Eyes too.
Also – thanks for the holler! Can’t wait to read the other blogs you’ve got linked.

Jenny’s right, it’s your blog, talk wedding stuff all you want! If we didn’t want to hear about it we wouldn’t keep showing up. ;)
And thanks a bunch for the love! I have been thinking I need to get a blog roll up and I just haven’t done it yet. Now I have more motivation!

I’m going to have to go listen to those songs. We’ve got Spanish Guitars for our wedding … and we’ll soon need to make very similar decisions!

I thought about Bright Eyes too for my wedding, but living in Omaha it seemed way to weird. Like I might run into Conner Oberst at the bar sometime and know I was this huge dork that used his song at my wedding. Love the song though.

You are too cute! Ah, enjoy it all Kyla. The day goes by so fast and the things I remember most are the times I stopped to think how much fun I was having, like getting ready in the morning and dancing at the reception. You will look just gorgeous and I know you’ll be the kind of girl to really let yourself have fun and enjoy your day. Congratulations!!

I love Dave Matthews Band. It’s probably an unhealthy love, but I can’t help myself! Great song choice. So excited for you that this is the month of your wedding. Can’t wait to see pictures.
